Presentation

We remember Attitude Clando and Inepties Volantes, presented a few years ago at the Festival. In these two monologues, in which the spoken word was inextricably linked to the body, Dieudonné Niangouna cried out his urgency to live beyond the immeasurable wounds the war has inflicted on him. For the 2013 edition of the Festival d'Avignon of which he is one of the associated artists, along with Stanislas Nordey, this Congolese writer, actor and director developed a project of a different kind: a choral odyssey, both theatrical and musical at the same time. With Shéda, Dieudonné Niangouna orchestrates a stream of words and images that harmoniously come together in a metaphorical fresco touching as much on life as death, on violence as love, on wisdom as madness and on hope as dead ends. This melting pot of speech and thought will be portrayed by a choir of twelve African and European actors - including Dieudonné Niangouna himself - and two musicians. Rehearsed for several months in Brazzaville, this creation is intended for one of the most vibrant areas of the Festival d'Avignon: the Boulbon quarry, a legendary spot, which would provide a mineral backdrop where the work of Dieudonné Niangouna should resonate with all its telluric and poetic strength.
