Ivo van Hove

The director of the Toneelgroep in Amsterdam since 2001, Ivo van Hove has directed over a hundred often award-winning shows, plays, novel or film adaptations, musicals, and operas. He has also adapted films, by directors like Visconti, Bergman, or Cassavetes. From Shakespeare to Duras, from Pasolini to Bowie, his protean creations explore human emotions through text, images, and sound. At the Festival d'Avignon, he recently directed The Damned in the Cour d'honneur du Palais des papes in 2016, and The Things that Pass in the courtyard of the Lycée Saint-Joseph in 2018.
