Bashar Murkus

Palestinian playwright and director Bashar Murkus was born in 1992 and studied at the University of Haifa, where he now teaches drama and direction. He is a founding member and the artistic director of Khashabi Ensemble and Theatre, politically- and economically-independent structures dedicated to artists, and where experimentation and creation are made possible, free from any censorship. Since 2011, he has directed over twenty plays exploring complex and powerful social, political, and humanistic themes. He presented his play The Museum to the audience of the 75th edition of the Festival d’Avignon.
