Hofesh Shechter

Born in Jerusalem in 1975, Hofesh Shechter learnt Israeli folk dance before training at the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv. After studying percussions in Paris, he settled in London in 2002. As a dancer and choreographer, he's met with acclaim on the greatest stages in the world, and founded the Hofesh Shechter Company in 2008. His award-winning shows include Political Mother, Grand Finale, or Show. He also composes the hypnotic and percussive music which accompanies his incisive, explosive, and exhilarating choreographies. He presented barbarians at the Festival d'Avignon in 2015. He is an associate artist with Sadler's Wells in London, and his company is in residence at the Brighton Dome.
