This documentary tells the story of Husein and Mahmoud, two gay Syrian refugees. They decide, with the help of the small Syrian LGBTQI community in Istanbul, to organise a beauty pageant they call Mr. Gay Syria. A bittersweet documentary whose narrative builds as the events change and the protagonists slowly become more confident, Mr. Gay Syria is the story of the small Syrian LGBT community in Istanbul, who make do with what they have to elect their own candidate.
