Presentation

At the heart of rehearsals, in 1995, for Bernard-Marie Koltès's play In the Solitude of Cotton Fields. An intimate look at creation, with Patrice Chéreau and Pascal Greggory.

For the first time, Patrice Chéreau accepts the idea of being filmed and collaborating to the making of the film during his creative process. He accepts to run the risk of letting himself be observed for a year, revealing his doubts and anxieties, laying bare the circulation of his energies, his intuitions, and his certainties, in a word to reveal his secrets uncompromisingly while directing and performing Bernard-Marie Koltès's In the Solitude of Cotton Fields and directing Mozart's Don Giovanni in the so-called “Prague” version, that summer in 1995 in Salzburg. Focusing on the opera and on the complete recreation of In the Solitude of Cotton Fields with Pascal Greggory, this film gives us to see Patrice Chéreau's unique creative process for the first time on the screen.
