  • Encounter about

    SAIGON

Our faces are the maps of our childhood.

In a Vietnamese restaurant in which coexist at once the France of 2017 and the Saigon of 1954 meet, for the first time or not, a number of characters. Points of view, personal worlds, languages... Within themselves they carry the marks left by the changes of our world, of its movement, its geography, its history. Caroline Guiela Nguyen brings together eleven French and Vietnamese actors to draw a human map from their diverse voices. Like an impressionist painting made up of countless tiny points, SAIGON reveals itself as a landscape, if you but take a step back: France as it tells its story beyond its own borders.

    CAROLINE GUIELA NGUYEN

After studying sociology and the performing arts, Caroline Guiela Nguyen trained at the Conservatoire du Grand Avignon and at the school of the Théâtre national in Strasbourg. In 2008 she created the company Les Hommes Approximatifs, based in Valence, with which she created several plays, including Se souvenir de Violetta (Remembering Violetta), Elle Brûle (She Burns), Le Chagrin (Grief), and Mon Grand Amour (My Great Love). After spending two years working with the Théâtre Olympia in Tours and the Théâtre national de la Colline, she now works with the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe, the MC2: Grenoble, and is a member of the artistic collective of the Comédie de Valence. She is currently a writer-in-residence at the Charterhouse of Villeneuve lez Avignon.
