  • Built in the 14th century, the church of Notre-Dame-la-Principale became the Chapelle des Pénitents blancs at the beginning of the 19th century, when it was transformed into a Dominican convent. The brotherhood having died out, it is today a theatre assigned to the Festival d'Avignon and the Institut supérieur des techniques du spectacle. It is an enclosed space particularly appreciated for its intimate feel (164 seats). This is where the staging of contemporary texts began at the Festival, with Théâtre Ouvert, in the 1960s. Since 2014, the Chapelle des Pénitents blancs has been welcoming the cycle of shows for young audiences.

    Unnumbered seats.
